Lance Reddick is being remembered by friends and colleagues in Hollywood after news of his death was announced on Friday. Keanu Reeves, Wendell Pierce, James Gunn and more have shared touching tributes in remembrance of the late actor.
Reddick, who reprized his role as Charon the hotel concierge in John Wick: Chapter 4was remembered by the film’s director Chad Stahelski and its star Keanu Reeves who dedicated the soon to be released film to his memory.
“We are deeply saddened and heartbroken by the loss of our dear friend and colleague Lance Reddick. He was a consummate professional and a pleasure to work with,” Stahelski and Reeves said in a joint statement. “Our love and prayers go to his wife Stephanie, his children, his family and his friends. We dedicate the film to his loving memory. We will miss him terribly.”
The official account of John Wick also tweeted: “A caring soul, a wonderful human being and a true friend. See you soon, Lance Reddick.
Reddick was celebrated and known for starring in playoffs Threadand was called back by his co-stars and the show’s creator on Friday.
“A man of great strength and grace. A musician as talented as an actor,” Pierce tweeted. “The epitome of class. A painful and sudden unexpected grief for our family of artists. Unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Good luck my friend. You have made your mark here.
Isiah Whitlock Jr., who also starred in Thread, tweeted, “Shocked and saddened by the news of the passing of Lance Reddick. Really heartbreaking. RIP my friend. We will miss you.”
Show creator David Simon described him as an “accomplished professional, dedicated collaborator, charming soul and friend” in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s just disgusting and way, way, way too soon for us who know and love him to contemplate.”
Throughout his career, Reddick has starred in shows such as ounces, Fringe, BoschAnd Lost. His film credits included action movies like white house down And Godzilla vs. Kongas well as Spike Lee’s remake of Old boy. And he frequently did voice work for hit video games like Quantum BreakTHE Fate franchise, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
Sharing a DM exchange with late star Kirk Acevedo – who starred in ounces And Fringe with Reddick – remembered the late actor, saying he was “speechlessafter learning of his death. “I can’t make this up. It’s truly sad. We keep losing good people! I am speechless,” he wrote. “Rest in peace.”
Other Hollywood leaders such as Ben Stiller, Questlove and James Gunn have also paid tribute to the actor. Questlove’s simple words: “I can’t take it anymore. rip Lance Reddick.
“Lance Reddick was an incredibly nice guy and an incredibly talented actor,” Gunn tweeted. “It’s heartbreaking. My love goes out to all his family, friends and co-workers.
Stiller wrote, “Lance Reddick was a beautiful and compelling actor. And a beautiful person. He worked with my mother Anne Meara in her play ‘Afterplay’ playing Raziel, the angel of death slash server. The actor added, “He was exquisite at it and in everything he did.”
Representatives for Reddick confirmed his death at rolling stone Friday, saying he “passed away suddenly this morning of natural causes.”
“He is survived by his wife Stephanie Reddick and his children Yvonne Nicole Reddick and Christopher Reddick. Donations in her memory can be made to momcares.org in Baltimore, her hometown,” the statement continued. Lance will be greatly missed. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time.
Reddick recently appeared in Regina King’s One night in Miami…the animated sitcom Paradise PDand the Netflix series adaptation of resident Evil.
A veteran of the industry, Reddick did several other projects before his unexpected death, including the fourth John Wick movie, which arrives March 24. He is also set to appear posthumously in the Disney+ series.
